retrogradationism.

20 Feb

There are some crazy stories flying around about the events of this past weekend. Being someone who possibly had the most bizarre weekend of her life, I have been collecting the tales of those around me and internally struggling as to why and how seemingly EVERYONE had strange-ass Saturdays.

I wasn’t necessarily shocked, but intrigued, when my roommate informed me that our planetary neighbor, Mercury, was in retrograde. I have read other blogs and heard radio programs on this – but was never able to fully connect to it. Also – not a follower of astrology, I had a hard time believing that some planet’s orbit caused weird events to humans on Earth.

Retrograde occurs when a planet begins to slow to a halt before travelling backwards through the zodiac and ending when the planet returns to the point where it first paused. It looks like this:

A would be the planet, and the numbers, the different stages of the retrograde cycle.

SO – enough with the science… the biggest struggles of Mercury retrograde are through COMMUNICATION! There can be personal misunderstandings; flawed, disrupted, or delayed communications, negotiations and trade; glitches and breakdowns with phones, computers, cars, buses, trains and planes.

Mercury will appear to be passing back thru it’s cycle on March 8 and on March 28, the little guy will be back on it’s regular path. March 28 seems like a long time away.
